Recording ambient sounds..
Ambient sounds are background noise which will fill up the audio so there is no silence on the clips. They can be anything, wind or just general noise although they're not dialog or sound effects. I used the noise of the corridor behind my clips to make sure there was no silence through out my clips. for hunger games they used a software called atmos. An advantage you have from a recording on scene rather from a computer generated sound library is that you can make the sound just how you want it to your clip, you can also achieve a proper metallic sound using metals in foley sound. Hard cuts a ill advised as if you cut the sound then it would completely ruin the mood which the ambient sounds are creating, fading the music works a lot better if you are going to cut a clip.
Recording dialog.
For Recording dialog you will want to get the microphone as close as possible to the subjects mouth to get the clearest audio you can. Looping is post production dubbing it means that if they mess up the recording the first time then they will go back later and use a studio to record the dialog this is normally a lot clearer, although then you will have to sync with clips.

Foley sound. P1
What is a foley artist, what do they do and why are they needed? A foley artist is needed as the film producers can't get all sounds recorded by microphones, there are mics on the actors recording their voice which keep out other sounds so they don't get messed up by background noise. if they record foley sounds they can keep good loud dialog with no problems and add sound.
Explain the order in which the Foley artist creates the sound (mention the 'prop pass')?
Start off with the main character footsteps then background. everything moving on screen will of needed foley sound.
What are the key skills and qualities foley artists need to have?
a very large creative mind, you need to make sure you can do the timing to each sound.

What is the advantage of using real objects to create sound FX rather than using digital production or sound libraries?
you can build upon what you want the sound to sound like, you are able to create a real metallic sound by using actual metal objects not produced on computers.

Using specific examples describe how key sounds are created (use the Star Wars and Robin Hood clips if you want).
sounds can be created by going out and about to record real sounds, this means the sounds are relatable to the viewer and they feel like its more real. sounds will be recorded from animals, factories and engines.

Music copyright issues P1
1) Right of use
Publishing rights -
If the Music you're intending to you has already been released and published through a label, then you must get consent to legally use their music in your movie if you want to use their composition.
Recording rights-
You must get a license from the people/person who originally recorded the track. You will need to hunt down the owner and ask them for permission.
If you don't get license to use music off the owner/creator you can face trying to be sued by the owner as you will be selling their work without their permission.
You will need to make sure you clear any music used, if background music has been captured Eg. a Radio. if it was unintentional music and has been kept to add atmosphere it is incidental. If the music has been intentionally used and put in place you will need to gain clearance to use it.
If the Creator of the music has died you will need to source out the owner of the piece in most cases it will be the record label which the artist was signed to when they made the track.
What is creative commons?
CC means that the piece of material has creative commons it means it can be taken and reused in anyway and remixed legally without getting any clearance from the creator.
It exists so Artists who want their work to be able to reused and made more popular by other using it over and over again.
6 Types of CC
CC BY : this means that other people can change, tweak and remix but only if they give credit to the original creator.
CC BY NC ND: This means people can share work and download although they must give credit and must not sell your work in anyway.
CC BY NC SA: This lets others change and tweak the creators work but they cannot use it commercially and must give credit to the original creator.
CC BY NC: This means that others can change and tweak the original work non commercially and they must tell the original creator before doing anything.
CC BY SA: Often compared to copyright free, this lets anyone change tweak and remix and will be on the same license. The work can also be used commercially
CC BY ND:This license allows for redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to you.
My Music choice
I Created my soundtrack myself using garage band loops this way i could get the right BPM i wanted for my clip and would set the mood to how I wanted it. My music piece was very basic featuring one sound effect a long with a hip hop drum beat.
As i made my music i did not need to get any permission to use it.

submarines sound P1
The aldonte tempo (walking speed) gives a mellow feel to the clip and keeps everything calm so its like his thoughts are just casual and what he does, not that hes in a bad mood hes just letting the girl know how to avoid being bullied as he feels bad for her. he wants to help the girl and with the calm music we can tell that he is doing a more heart to heart kind of letter to her, and that he doesn't mean and bad feelings.

after effects.
In After effects i did my three effects.
- Running through a wall
- running really fast
- teleporting through the floor
I achieved these effects by using masks and layer transformation eg. opacity.
the effects where pretty easy to do although it did take time to make them look up to standard and make them look like they were actually happening
For the First effect of falling through the fall I used a time remapping to make it speed up and then carefully masked around luke as he fell into the floor, and key framed the mask and changed it to make him disappear.
For the second effect i firstly time remapped the time to speed it up then i would add a mask so when i added the blur it wouldn only blur at certain points.
Third and final effect it was a simple walk through wall effect it was just a mask so i masked myself out of the shot when i got to the wall.

todays problem
the best thing which has happened to my projects was that i was able to add some great continuity editing without realising while filming.
I accidentally quit my projects without saving, although i still had some saved this meant i had less time this meant i had to re do what i had added.
As i had already done the bit which had been deleted when i quick i knew exactly what to do when redoing it so i was quick at it.

30 min ting
Updated My floor fall effect with better masking and In taking more time made the effect look better.

Rough Cut Self approval P1
Audio-
I had not finished my Rough cut and had not edited any of the audio so the first step will be to actually make a start to the audio and then see what is wrong with it to make any improvements to the audio.
Special effects-
my special effects were good, although masks were visible so if i take more time keyframing each point of the mask i could perfect my effects to look really realistic and with out using bad stock footage of a glowing ball or something tacky like that.
Sequence-
My sequence was not fully finished, We have no filmed all of the footage for it to be a complete sequence although we found that the shot list was not going to make a easily followable sequence of footage so we had to cut some shots out.
