Composing music for film P1
Describe how Hans Zimmer and Christopher Nolan worked together to create the music for the Dark Knight?
when Hans was going a bit too far in the music composing Christopher nolan would always push him as he knew about the nature of the sounds he was playing with he knew what he wanted out of the music composure.
What was the process that Hans Zimmer used to come up with the music?
Hans tried to make the music the most minimal thing which would get the point across. they needed something which someone could hear and now with a second of it that it was a bad thing or something was lurking. they had to record all kinds of sounds.
What was Hans Zimmers intention when making this soundtrack?
Hans intention was to make a sound which people hated and didn't like to hear, as that would make them hate the character, as the joker is a very evil character he needed to make something provocative so people could really hate it.
What qualities did Hans Zimmer want the music to have?
He wanted the music to be soo minimal to say exactly what he wanted it to say so once you heard the smallest bit of it that the character was about and that something bad was too happen. he wanted to get rid of everything which associated with the bad guy and have a new approach with the idea of anarchy. he needed it to be a personal performance of the joker and had to be a sound which would be very close to you.
How do you feel about the final score and explain why you feel it works/doesn’t work?
I think what Hans Zimmer did was incredible in a couple of notes and just a rising tension it working incredibly well nothing even needs to happen and you feel as something is about and something is building up inside ready to bounce as any point in time.
5 point guide:
1. Make sure you fully understand what you are composing the music for. The feel and mood of the scene.
2. Make Sure you're in full contact with the person you're making the piece for, they know what they want.
3. Experiment to produce an original sound which will do exactly what you want it to do within the film.
4. Try and sync the BPM to how fast the scene is.
5. Keep it original. Originality is very important when creating a unique piece for a movie.

Research into Recording Ambient Sounds and Dialogue P1
Recording ambient sounds..
Ambient sounds are background noise which will fill up the audio so there is no silence on the clips. They can be anything, wind or just general noise although they're not dialog or sound effects. I used the noise of the corridor behind my clips to make sure there was no silence through out my clips. for hunger games they used a software called atmos. An advantage you have from a recording on scene rather from a computer generated sound library is that you can make the sound just how you want it to your clip, you can also achieve a proper metallic sound using metals in foley sound. Hard cuts a ill advised as if you cut the sound then it would completely ruin the mood which the ambient sounds are creating, fading the music works a lot better if you are going to cut a clip.
Recording dialog.
For Recording dialog you will want to get the microphone as close as possible to the subjects mouth to get the clearest audio you can. Looping is post production dubbing it means that if they mess up the recording the first time then they will go back later and use a studio to record the dialog this is normally a lot clearer, although then you will have to sync with clips.
